IPL 2022 retention Highlights: Ben Stokes, KL Rahul released; KKR back all-rounders

IPL 2022 retention Highlights: The rules mention that the existing eight franchises can retain a maximum of four players from their current squad.

IPL 2022 retention Highlights: Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and MS Dhoni as expected have been retained by their respective franchise, while Hardik Pandya, Rashid Khan, Ben Stokes are some notable omissions. While it was obvious that David Warner won't be a part of Sunrisers Hyderabad's plans in future after the fallout, retaining two uncapped Indian players in the form of Abdul Samad and Umran Malik comes as a surprise. Mumbai Indians have shown faith on their big man Kieron Pollard and Suryakumar Yadav. As per the retention rules of BCCI, franchises will be charged ₹16 crore for the first player they retain, ₹12 crore for the second player, ₹8 crore for the third player and ₹6 crore for the fourth player. The salary purse for all the teams is set at ₹90 crore.
