Lalu's son Tejashwi Yadav spoke to the media on Wednesday and said that Lalu can also be taken to Singapore if needed.
New Delhi: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Wednesday met RJD supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav, who has been admitted to a hospital in Patna after he fractured his shoulder. Lalu Prasad Yadav will be taken to Delhi for further treatment. Nitish Kumar visited the Paras Hospital, where Prasad has been admitted since Monday, PTI reported. Lalu Prasad's sons Tejashwi and Tej Pratap were also present.
Speaking to reporters, Kumar said, "There seems to be some improvement in Laluji’s condition since he was admitted. But, it would be proper if he is taken to Delhi for better treatment. I pray for his speedy recovery."
Speaking of his old ties with Lalu Prasad Yadav, Kumar said, "We go a long way back.We have known each other since both of us were young." He also said the state government would bear the medical expenses of the RJD supremo.
Tejashwi Yadav, the leader of the opposition in Bihar Assembly, said Lalu Prasad Yadav could also be taken to Singapore if needed.
"The chief minister has been in touch ever since my father got hospitalised. Yesterday, I received a call from Prime Minister Narendra Modi besides Sonia ji (Congress president) and Priyanka ji," Tejashwi said.
Tejashwi said there were plans to take his father to Singapore for a kidney transplant. "Following his recent fracture, we will go by the opinion of what doctors in Delhi suggest. If they allow, we will like to take him abroad," the RJD leader said.
Lalu Prasad fell down the stairs of his house at 10 Circular Road in Patna on Sunday and was rushed to a city hospital. The condition of the RJD chief is said to be stable. He is being treated under the supervision of several doctors.
“Lalu Yadav is undergoing treatment and is being monitored by multiple doctors”, said a senior RJD leader.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday inquired about the health of RJD supremo. A statement issued by Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) state spokesperson Chittaranjan Gagan on Tuesday said, "The PM spoke to Tejashwi Yadav on Tuesday and enquired about the health of the RJD supremo. The PM wished speedy recovery to RJD chief."
Earlier, several leaders including former Chief Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi, and LJP President Chirag Paswan also met the RJD chief and wished for his speedy recovery.
BJP leader and former Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Modi also said: "I pray to God for quick recovery of Lalu Prasad Yadav and that he soon returns home. The state government should take care of him and if necessary, arrange transportation to send him to Delhi for better treatment."
