Sushmita Sen’s Ex Vikram Bhatt Defends Her, Says She Is A ‘Love Digger, Not Gold Digger’

Sushmita’s ex-boyfriend director Vikram Bhatt has come in support of the actress. Sushmita Sen has been called a gold digger by the trolls for dating Lalit Modi.

New Delhi: Ever since former IPL Chairman Lalit Modi announced about dating Sushmita Sen, they have been at the receiving end of trolling. Sushmita Sen has even been called a gold digger for dating Lalit Modi. The actress gave it back to all the trolls in a classy way through her Instagram post.

Now, Sushmita’s ex-boyfriend director Vikram Bhatt has come in support of the actress. The director spoke with India Today about Sushmita being called a gold digger and said that Sushmita is the last person to choose someone on the basis of money.

“Sushmita is a love digger, not a gold digger. I think making fun of other people's life is entertainment. Someone’s tragedy is someone’s entertainment, that’s always there. When Kareena [Kapoor] married Saif [Ali Khan], even she was trolled. So, I think it goes with the territory, if you are a celebrity and if there is a decision of yours which seems funny to netizens, they start trolling,” Vikram was quoted as saying by India Today.

The director also revealed to India Today that he was penniless and was directing ‘Ghulam’ when she started dating him. The actress not only took him to the US but also made his entry special.

“Sushmita is the last person who checks out bank balances before she decides to fall in love with someone. I was penniless. I was directing Ghulam, but I had no money. I will not forget that Sushmita was the person who first took me to the US, and she paid for my trip. I had no money. When we reached Los Angeles and there was a limousine, and I was surprised. She said that she wanted to make my entry in the US very special,” the director told India Today.

Sushmita and Vikram dated during the shooting of her Bollywood debut ‘Dastak’. Vikram was the writer of the film. They parted ways after a few years.

On Sunday, Sushmita reacted to the ‘gold digger’ comment in a long Instagram post. She wrote, “The so called intellectuals with their idiosyncrasies….the ignorant with their cheap & at times funny gossip 😊 The friends I never had & the acquaintances I’ve never met….all sharing their grand opinions & deep knowledge of my life & character…monetising the ‘Gold Digger’ all the way!!! 😄👍 Ah these geniuses!!!."

Lalit Modi surprised everyone when he shared pictures with Sushmita from Sardinia and Maldives where the two were vacationing together. In the tweet, he called Sushmita his 'better half' and later clarified that the two weren't married but dating.
